Sarah Smallbone Endometriosis Portrait

Sarah Smallbone

Age: 35

Time to diagnosis: 6 months

Sarah had several major operations in a short space of time – at an age when she should have been having fun. She’s a friendly, humble, open lady, selflessly devoted to helping others. She co-runs the Endometriosis UK support group for South Essex and also regularly attends the London group, where she’s made some great friends.

Sarah had a relatively short time to diagnosis, prompted by a very definite point when her body alerted her something was wrong. She came off the contraceptive pill she’d been taking for years; four months of severely painful, heavy, disruptive periods followed. Sarah attended a walk-in health clinic and was told right then about endometriosis.

Endometriosis UK helps people with the condition take back control by providing vital support services,

reliable information and a community for those affected by endometriosis.
