Kaleidescape Movie Server

As your movie collection grows, storing and then finding DVDs becomes an increasing headache.

Kaleidescape DVD Movie Server 'dancing covers' on-screen displayA movie server stores all your films so you can watch them anywhere in your home. The Kaleidecape movie server makes it very easy to choose a film and is extremely reliable.

All your DVDs are stored on a central hard drive. All the media is stored on the system is at its original quality, so there is no compression or loss of quality. The system can be expanded as your movie collection grows.

Your movies can be displayed on-screen alphabetically, by director, actor, release year, rating or running time. Alternatively you can browse through your cover art. If you are not sure what you want to watch you can select a cover and the system will find you similar movies.

Because of the unique database employed by the system when you select a movie it can take you start of the feature, by-passing the menus, warnings adverts and other features. If you wish to view the extras they are still available on the system.

Kaleidescape Crestron InterfaceLoading a movie onto the system is as easy as putting a DVD into a DVD player. By inserting a DVD into the movie player it is automatically imported.

The Kaleidescape system already knows about most DVDs on release and provides cover art, synopsis, and details of the actors and director. Updates are regularly automatically retrieved via the Internet.  If a DVD is not found on the database Kaleidescape will add this to the database if you type in the barcode from the DVD.

1080p Mini PlayerYour content can be password protected so when the kids access the system they are only presented with movies rated 12 and under.

The Kaleidescape players offer full 1080p video upscaling to produce the best possible video images from your DVD collection. A mini-player can also be installed directly behind a flat screen which enables a player to be installed in a room but out of view.

The Kaleidescape system also works equally well for music. It is particularly good at categorising classical music and jazz where you may want to search for music by a particular performer, orchestra or conductor. The system automatically loads extensive notes on each piece of music that you store. As the music is stored in original quality there is no compression or loss of quality.

Music only servers

If you are music fan you are likely to have an ever expanding collection of CDs. As well as providing storage headache, beyond a certain point it is near impossible to find the CD you want.

Music servers provide a very easy way of storing your music centrally which you can then enjoy in any room. Loading your CDs is as simple as inserting the CD into the drawer. The server will then automatically retrieve the artist, album, track and cover art information from the internet.

The best music servers are made by hi-fi manufacturers and are a replacement for their very best CD players. The information on the CD is copied exactly so there is no compression or loss of quality.

Depending on the multi-room system you are using your music can either be selected via a keypad, touch screen, remote control or on-screen display on your TV.  The Control4 multiroom system includes the ability to play MP3 music from a computer hard drive as standard - making it a very cost effective solution.
